Auchintaple Loch

Blue sky and sun this morning, so I decided to head up to Auchintaple Loch further on from Loch Shandra.  The scenery was absolutely spectacular today and the fairly easy climb up through the heather is worthwhile to get the views down to Auchintaple.  Absolute gem of a loch with the most amazing boat house which appears to have been recently refurbished, think I could quite happily live there and wake up to the view across the loch every morning.  Scots Pine trees are in abundance around here and you can imagine what the ancient landscape of Scotland must have once looked like.

Loch Shandra in better weather.

Spittal of Glenshee

It's the time of year when I am skiving off and enjoying a few walks with the dog.  Yesterday we went up the back hill from the Spittal of Glenshee and over towards the Upper Lunch Hut and back.  Very peaceful with the only sounds being grouse calling and a helicopter buzzing around the far hillside.  The snow level is starting to drop now and walking now calls for the obligatory woolly hat.

Loch Shandra Glenisla

The other day hound and I went and did the pretty easy walk along to Loch Shandra at Glenisla.  I did intend to head up further to Auchintaple Loch, but the mist was descending and it was raining and it was muddy and my camera was getting wet and .........   I did go into the forest a bit though but forestry commission works meant a turnback as lots of tree felling going on.   There is plenty parking at the start of the walk at Freuchies.

An Autumn Day down by the Tay

The Autumn colours this year have been spectacular, beautifully reflected in the sunlight.  Got a few pictures down by the River Tay and of the Famous nearby Beech Hedge.

Backwater Reservoir

I mentioned the Backwater Reservoir near Glenisla back in 2010 on here, but was here again recently.  Well I go quite a bit but don't want to continually repeat myself on here.  Was hoping to catch a glimpse of a Sea Eagle that have been known to frequent the area, but nothing much happening, very quiet. Nice just to wander down one side of the reservoir, but you can do the full circular.
