Taste Our Best - Visit Scotland

On Thursday I went down to Scone Palace for a 'Taste our Best' workshop which is a new quality scheme with Visit Scotland. It is all about promoting and using Scottish/local food in your establishment.   In my smugness I can probably say that the B&B has been using 'local' for a good while now and have already invested a bit of time sourcing and promoting it.  The laurels though go to the good ladies from P&K council who did all the legwork for getting the 'Perthshire Breakfast' scheme of the ground and inspired me. Always learning though and picked up a few wee tips and leaflets.  I won't know if the B&B can get the  'Taste our Best' accreditation until it has it's next visit from the quality and standards inspector.
On Friday I went to Glenshee ski-ing, loads of snow at the moment.

Blairgowrie Riverside Refurbishment

Back on here sooner than I had anticipated, but as the sun made a brief appearance this afternoon I went down to see how the work was getting on at the Riverside.  Did I mention this before? probably! my head is a bit mince at the moment.  Yes, the park area down by the riverside is getting a major refurbishment and I think will look really good, not think, it will.  I made an illegal move and squeezed in between the security fences to get into the new garden part for some photos.  Nice to see the sunshine as well and a different muddy wander, tend to be just shuffling round the nearby muddy fields with the dog at the moment.

January 2014

The end of January already.  Tick, tock goes the clock. Time and lives move forward, while for others it stands still. Tick, tock.

First update of 2014, nothing to update really, but I shall share my lacklustre news anyway.  Not a bad January in the B&B occupancy wise, and the weather has been generally grey and wet.  Glenshee ski centre has benefited from huge snow falls this week so fingers crossed the cold air stays in residence for February and the mid term holidays.
Blairgowrie had it's annual fun run on New Year's Day and had the best turnout to date, have challenged myself to run it next year.  There have been some interesting visitors to the bird feeders, long-tailed tits and blackcaps (bad photos).  Had one outing in January when I took the children through to Edinburgh to visit their beautiful new baby cousin.  'That's all Folks'....stay tuned for the next instalment.  Tick, tock.
