Winter Returns

Had a busy Easter weekend. Woke up on Saturday with a covering of snow, it soon disappeared though, but the rest of the weekend was bitterly cold. I never managed to get down the town to the first Easter fair, everything conspired against me, maybe next year. There were quite a few snow showers today and yesterday, but it never came to anything. Glenshee ski report looks quite good though, it's always funny how you can have no snow here, but loads up the road, mind you it is a steep climb up the A93 to Glenshee.

Scone Palace

The weather finally broke yesterday after a superb spell of sunny, but cold days, who says it always rains in Scotland! Just 20 minutes down the road is Scone Palace where we went today as their was an antique fair on and the grounds were open with the snowdrops in full bloom. The Palace opens for the season on the 21st March.

Spring has Sprung, maybe!!

Another lovely day with the sun streaming down, it's been nice for a few days now and should continue to the end of the week. Ventured out into the front garden today to do some tidying up and pruning, but with all the spring bulbs pushing their way through you have to tread carefully, but still managed to get a bit done.

Forgot to say, the other week, I had my overnight visit from the Inspector for Quality and Standards for Visit Scotland and the grading report says "A well presented property offering a high standard of accommodation, where attention to detail is evident. Warm friendly welcome, a comfortble stay with high standards of hospitality, excellent breakfast in both quality and presentation", so I am happy to report we are still a 4 star Bed and Breakfast.

What a beautiful day today, after the heavy rain. It was like spring, that will soon change!! The sky as you can see was beautiful at dusk.

Happy Burns Night

Enjoyed our Haggis, neeps and tatties tonight, and it was my daughter's birthday. Finally got my new web site up and running, hope you like it.

I didn't get to the ski slopes today, my other half went. After my guests had left this morning, they had been at the Scottish Junior Cup fourth round tie between Blairgowrie Juniors and Clydebank Football Club, I set to work on my new web site which I have been working on for what seems forever, today was the day it was going live. What a disaster transferring files, something went horribly wrong and I lost a page, so in other words it didn't work, and I will have to start all over again!! Spent the afternoon putting together a quick site and joy of joys I managed to get it online, so at least there is something for you my potential guests to look at. Cross fingers I can get the new site up soon.

January 2008

Already getting into the middle of the month. It's hard to believe we are now into our 12th season here, how time flies. We have certainly done a lot of work to the old place since we arrived with only a van full of our worldly goods, but it all seems worth it. We like to think the standard of accommodation improves every year.

My guests at Hogmany had a great night out at the Ceilidh in the Town Hall and the annual New Year's Day Fun Run was a great success. Glenshee Ski Centre, just up the road, has had a good amount of snow and the skiers have certainly been going up the A93 in their droves. Have been up twice this year, hope to go tomorrow.
