Also on Friday evening I went Beaver watching not a million miles from here. There have been wild beavers in Perthshire for over 10 years and have only recently had more attention focused on them because of a proposed cull. There are people for and against them and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Click here for more information about the Scottish Wild Beavers. We only got a fleeting glimpse of a beaver, wind in wrong direction, quite a few people about etc didn't really enhance our chances. If you want to spot a beaver it is really a case of sitting patiently and waiting.

Fungarth Walk By Dunkeld
On Friday I went for a walk along the path that takes you from Loch of Lowes over to Dunkeld, not a huge distance and I only went as far as Haughend then returned. There are parking bays dotted along the Loch side further past Loch of Lowes Visitor Centre where you can leave your vehicle. The walk also takes you by Craig Wood which is yet another awesome Perthshire Bluebell Wood and you get spectacular views over Lowes and Craiglush Lochs.
Blairgowrie, Rattray & District Pipe Band
Our local pipe band play regularly in the summer months in the Wellmeadow, Blairgowrie. This was their performance on Thursday past and they will next be playing on the 14th June from 7.30pm -8.30pm, although I would imagine they will be playing this weekend at the planned Jubilee Celebrations in the town.

Out for Lunch in Perth
Once again I'm way behind with my blogging, have been merrily distracted from the computer by the scorching weather we have been having. At Christmas my younger brother and his lovely wife gifted us a voucher to use at 63 Tay Street in Perth, a renowned local restaurant. We have been before but many moons ago, so last week we finally got around to going for lunch. We were early so got a good interior picture before other people arrived. Both of us having worked in the hospitality industry for many years are maybe a bit critical, but can honestly say the lunch was faultless and the flavours terrific, would highly recommend you go for lunch or dinner. Sorry, forgot to take a picture of the dessert. Tay Street itself is lovely with grand buildings and a promenade running parallel to the River Tay.

Meikleour
Not even a 10 minute drive from us is the pretty village of Meikleour, I often go through the village as there is a fantastic wood in which to go walking with the faithful hound. As you pass the hotel you will see a sign for Lethendy and a wee bit along you can park by the side of the road. I've mentioned this wood before because of Cleaven Dyke the Neolithic Cursus which runs through it. The paths in the wood zig-zag everywhere and I walked back into Meikleour by a lane which comes out by the hotel then back to the car after taking a few photos in the village. It was nice to walk in the dappled shade of the wood today as we have been having some super weather but the dog is none too keen on the heat.
