The Cateran Yomp was held this weekend in Blairgowrie. This is the yomps second year and teams have to complete the Cateran Trail in 24 hours. You don't have to do the whole 52 miles unless you want the gold medal. For silver you have to do 36 and a half miles and Bronze is 22 miles. It is a big fundraising event for ABF Soldiers Charity and the Princes Scottish Youth Business Trust. I went to have a look at base camp and was told the estimated time for the first teams home would be around 8.00pm. Have to say I quite fancy having a go at the yomp, although probably not the whole route in one go. It must have been quite muddy in places becasuse we have some very heavy torrential rain showers. The Game Fair at Scone Place was cancelled after the first day this weekend because of the rain turning the site to a sea of mud - good old summer!

I can't imagine doing that trail in 24 hours! I wonder what kind of shape the participants are in when they get to the finish. And I also wonder how they walk in the dark, especially on the uneven ground.
A lot of the teams are super fit army people, so probably a stroll in the park for them!
