An unexpected gem of a walk

School holidays are upon us and I was determined to take the children on a walk today and I even made a little picnic for them.  The plan was to head to the Hermitage at Dunkeld, but just over 10 minutes into our drive No.2 daughter pointed out a small parking area, on the right just past Cardney Eastate entrance, and announced she had walked up here with a friend and her parents and there was water and a hut at the top.

We walked through lovely woodland and indeed at the end of the path there was water and a hut and spectacular views all around.

We had a small picnic watching the swans watching us.  The lochan is a fishing spot and you can get a permit from Butterstone Loch fishings.

A magical little spot and I have to thank one of my children for telling me about it.
